Bringing Baby Home™ is a research-based, educational program for pregnant couples and families with children up to three years of age. It was designed and created by world-renowned relationship experts, Drs. John and Julie Gottman, at The Gottman Institute in Seattle, Washington. The goal of the program is to improve the quality of life for babies and children by strengthening the parental relationship.

Bringing Baby Home is a 12-hour research-based relationship skills workshop designed and created by relationship experts, Drs. John and Julie Gottman, at The Relationship Research Institute in Seattle, Washington. The Gottman’s research demonstrates that when couples become parents, there is a significant decline  in their relationship satisfaction. Further research has shown that relationship discord and conflict have a profound negative effect on the early development and well-being of couples’ very young children.

What is the purpose of Bringing Baby Home Program?

The goal of this program is to improve the quality of life for babies and children by strengthening the parental relationship.

Why should we take this course?

The program is specifically designed for expecting couples and families with children up to three years of age.  Becoming a family is a pivotal moment in the life course. How you approach this important transition can significantly influence your relationship stability and quality, your child’s development, and your overall health and well-being now and into the future. If you would like to empower yourselves with knowledge and learn skills to build a positive relationship legacy for your family, this course is ideal for you! The research-based Bringing Baby Home workshop will help prepare you for life with baby and help you both to be the best parenting team possible.

What is the format?
The course is a combination of direct instruction and couple-guided learning with 7.5 hours of the workshop completed with BBH educator, Dr. Ahlishia Shipley, during three 2.5 hour virtual sessions, and the other 4.5 hours are completed by the couple in between sessions.

What knowledge and skills will we build during this course?

  • Understand what to expect during the transition to parenthood
  • Build knowledge of early child development
  • Create strategies to effectively co-parent with partner
  • Learn approaches to improve communication
  • Demonstrate how to strengthen friendship, intimacy and conflict regulation skills
  • Recognize the signs of postpartum mood, anxiety, and adjustment disorders and build awareness of support or treatment options

Cost: $279 per couple for the workshop. Attendees will also need to purchase one set of digital course materials for $49 from the Gottman website. Details will be provided.

***As an added bonus, participants will have access to an exclusive BBH cohort Facebook community which offers relevant resources, news, and a space to interact about the course and this important transition.
